The Republic of Mauritius has introduced a travel-friendly initiative for visitors from Reunion Island, allowing them entry with just a valid French identity card from September 19, 2022, to June 30, 2023.
Under this special provision, French nationals residing in Reunion who are vacationing in Mauritius can skip the passport requirement. To qualify, travelers must spend a minimum of two nights in Mauritius, meet standard immigration protocols such as holding return tickets and confirmed accommodations, and present a valid French ID upon arrival. An “entry clearance” will be granted at the point of entry, making it easier than ever for Reunionese visitors to enjoy a Mauritian getaway.
