Tourism indicators for Mauritius are looking brighter than ever as the peak season, which began on October 1st, promises an exciting surge of visitors. “It’s been a strong start, and the outlook for the season ahead is incredibly promising,” says Arvind Bundhun, Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA).
With end-of-year holidays approaching, the high occupancy rates in hotels and accommodations are an early signal of Mauritius’s appeal as a destination. “Our tourism recovery has been remarkable, with several markets growing faster than two years ago. This confirms that Mauritius has retained its unique charm and that our strategies are working,” adds Bundhun.
The island has already welcomed around 740,000 tourists from January through October, and officials are optimistic about hitting the one-million-visitor milestone by year’s end. Bundhun attributes this success to the collective efforts of both public and private sectors. “I extend my gratitude to the government, our partners both locally and abroad, the media, and everyone across the tourism industry who has championed Mauritius as a premier destination.
