Air Mauritius is opening a new chapter in its UK service by moving operations from London Heathrow to London Gatwick, making direct flights to Mauritius available daily for the first time ever. The change, set for October 29, 2023, coincides with the airline’s 50th anniversary of UK operations. To celebrate, Air Mauritius and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) hosted a Networking Gala Evening at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London on June 22, graced by key figures, including Mauritius High Commissioner Girish Nunkoo and MTPA Director Arvind Bundhun.

Chief Commercial Officer Laurent Recoura expressed excitement for the new opportunity, emphasizing that increased UK access will help expand tourism to Mauritius. Bundhun added that the daily flights symbolize both stability and growth for the destination. Nunkoo highlighted Mauritius as a top choice for UK travelers, offering rich, multi-faceted experiences.

With a successful “Feel our Island Energy” campaign showcasing the island’s unique charm and hospitality, Mauritius has already welcomed 54,231 visitors from January to June, marking a 9% increase compared to 2019. The Gala concluded with a lucky draw offering return tickets and hotel stays, promoting Mauritius as an ideal spot for vacations, weddings, and MICE events.

Flight Schedule:

  • MRU to LGW: Daily 23:05 – 07:00
  • LGW to MRU: Daily 15:55 – 07:15
